To love my career, I must be doing something that I love. I'll choose photography. You choose anything you wish, ANYTHING. I love photography, I always have. My uncle told me to think up the one thing that I love to do, something I'd stay up all hours of the night for because I love it that much, something I'm probably doing now and not getting paid to do. He said to me, "what do you love?" I never dreamed of turning photography into a career. I was told at a young age by a high school counselor, "oh honey, photography is just a hobby. You need to think of a real career." About ten years have gone by since I heard that and guess what? There are photographers out there making a living, and they are living their dream!
What is your dream? What do you love?
Now that we have that "something we love," we need to start dreaming. How do we do that? Well, I discovered just the perfect piece of artwork to help guide us through our dreams.
First and foremost, as I stated earlier, specific conditions must be met.
From the poster:
adjust attitude to positive mode
synchronize feeling coordinates to open receptivity
check materials list for:
time, to relax
space, adjust for comfort
silence, tune out interference
calm, maintain peaceful awareness
slow down body speed:
take several deep breaths
close visual receptors (eyes)
relax muscles from head to toe
turn attention inward
release brakes:
stress
inhibitions
worry
judgement
noise
anxiety
These conditions are much easier said than done. I think we will all discover a much more positive state if we simply, try our best to reach these conditions.
Next, we take off!
From the poster:
1. TAKE OFF
Spark imagination (using any of the following fantasy fuels:)
music - mellow & soft
words - lyrical, poetic
images - soothing
colors - vivid
Ready?
Set?
Take off!
There are two more steps in this artwork, that guide us on launching our dreams. Until then, please enjoy your dreaming, I know I will :)
(To site the poster, the artist's name appears to be Eric Disney)
I had this poster once, many years ago. Today while driving I missed it again for the millionth time. It was nice to see it again. I hope to find a copy and have it on my wall again one day. Thanks for sharing yours. -Billy
ReplyDeleteCan you post the other two steps?
ReplyDeleteI owned a copy of this poster in the early 80’s. If you would consider selling it, please email me at JHunter@usft.com . If you would NOT consider selling it, could I pay you for an exceptionally high-resolution photo or scan of it suitable for reprinting?
